HAS IT REALLY BEEN
Yamaha rolled its last Banshee
off of the assembly line in 2006,
but the venerable 350cc twin is
still alive and well at sand drag
races and jamborees across the
country. Yamahas dominated
the ATV classes at the AMA Hill-Climb Grand Championships at
Neoga, Illinois, with Zach Dierks
taking the ATV 450 class (10.191
secs), Joel Dierks winning the
ATV Seniors ( 11.141 secs) and
Brandon Novak topping the ATV
Open class (10.29 sec).
Banshee power can rip the paddles off,
so their use is best limited to deep sand,
not the red-clay soil at the Marysvale,
Utah’s Paiute Trail UTV Jamboree.
CUB CADET CHALLENGER 400
Cub Cadet expands its new Challenger UTV line with the
all-new 50-inch Challenger 400 that fits in the bed of full-sized
pickups and is USFS-trail legal. Powered by a 404cc Subaru
EX40 air-cooled single, the new 400 attains speeds up to 25
mph and tows 500 pounds, but its best feature is its $5999
base price. The $6499 LX version sports a poly sun roof,
windshield, and two-tone aluminum wheels. Both 400s sport
LED headlights, a die-cast aluminum rear axle housing, manually
locking rear Turf-mode diff and 5 inches of suspension travel.
Cub Cadet introduced
its Challenger line last
year with the 700
and 500, and now
400 and 400LX
join the lineup
