POLARIS RZR XP1000
EXHAUSTS Make more power and weight at the same time
Throughout the history of powersports, the addition of an aftermarket exhaust has always been the first step in the quest for increased performance. In the
beginning (early two-stroke days of ATVs), the lack of performance with stock exhausts was mostly related to lower
production costs; production-stamped pipes couldn’t hold
a candle to the trick, cone-built, aftermarket race pipes.
As production procedures improved, the stock stuff finally
stood a chance at being on par. This was short-lived, as
strict emissions and sound regulations were quickly placed
on the OEMs, once again opening the doors for performance gains from the aftermarket.
Fast-forward to today; we now have performance-built
UTVs like the new XP 1000 and XP 1000 4 rolling off the
showroom with more than 100 horsepower. With a high-performance fuel-injection system and tons of research
and development, it makes you wonder what can actually
be improved by the aftermarket. When the machine first
came out, we noticed many exhaust builders didn’t jump
right in with an offering. After asking around, the conclusion was that Polaris had done their homework with the
new machine, and the stock exhaust system was better
than most expected. For a few companies, that was the
end of the story; others pushed on, spending countless
hours seeing if they could squeeze out some extra horsepower.
Our XP 1000 exhaust buyer’s guide was put together to
showcase what these manufacturers and engine builders
have come up with.
DASA SLIP-ON EXHAUST
We all know how obnoxious an overly
loud exhaust can be, and DASA claims,
“Horsepower doesn’t have to be loud” with their new XP
1000 exhaust. A slip-on-style exhaust that installs in
minutes, its maintenance-free “no packing” keeps the
peace. It also allows you to use the original OEM muffler
cover and accepts the OEM bolt-in spark arrestor.
DASA claims a very impressive 9 percent horsepower
increase over stock. The DASA slip-on comes with an
oxygen-sensor bung installed, and they have a plug-and-play tuner available. Cost is a respectable $489.
