Spring break is a big deal all over the country and world, but few celebrate it like they do in east
Texas, where 11,000– 15,000 OHV
enthusiasts don’t just get their T-shirts
wet; they get muddy from head to
toe! The High Lifter Mud Nationals is
the Daytona 500 for mud bugs, and
Mud Creek Off-Road Park hosts five
days of mud, fun and fortune. High
Lifter provides almost $21,000 in event
purses for the Bad 2 ’da Bone Show
and Shine, Massimo Obstacle Course,
Can-Am/BRP Mud Bog, Mudda-Cross,
Endurance Challenge, Poker Run, and
Audio Formz Mud Jam. Ninety or so
vendors showcase their products at
the Mud Nationals, including Yamaha,
Polaris, Can-Am, Arctic Cat, Massimo,
CF Moto, Kymco, EPI, S3 Powersports
and several other dealerships. Polaris
donated 125 products that were given
away to attendees, including an all-new Sportsman Ace and a RZR XP
1000! Yamaha gave away a PW2038
pressure washer, Yeti cooler and
Contour HD video camera. They also
held demo rides and sponsored the
Extreme Concert Series with Swamp
Donky (from the mud holes of northern
Louisiana) and Jason Cassidy on Friday
night and Drake White and the Big Fire
opening for Uncle Kracker on Saturday.
There were even freestyle exhibitions on
Friday and Saturday.
A WHOLE LOT OF
SPLASHING GOING ON!
The mud-racing action was intense,
and Can-Am cleaned up in most
events, with Matt Evans winning the
Show and Shine and taking third in the
Mud Jam with a sick Maverick Max.
Team Gorilla Axle/Can-Am’s Steve
Hittle made history as the first Can-Am UTV pilot to win at the High Lifter
Mud Nationals. He topped the Can-Am Mud Bog UTVs and was second
in Polaris Mudda-Cross UTVs, behind
Shane Dowden in an S3 Powersports
Maverick 1000. Dowden also won the
Pro Series A (short-wheelbase) Polaris
Mudda-Cross on a Renegade 800,
was second in Pro Series B on an
Outlander Max 800, and was third in
Super Modified ATV. In fact, Can-Am
dominated the Pro and Super Modified
ATV podiums in Mud Bog and Mudda-
Cross, took the top two spots in the
Endurance Challenge and Mud Bog

This was the year of Can-Am domination at the High Lifter Mud Nationals. Shane Dowden

B (LWB) and Can-Am/BRP UTV Mud Bog, riding for S3 Powersports.
