INSIDE SCOOP
HETRICK DOUBLES
AT MUDDY CREEK
Losing his Can-Am ride for 2013 has
set Joel Hetrick afire, as he won the
opening moto of the year in Georgia,
and then he dominated both motos at
Muddy Creek in Blountville, Tennessee.
Hetrick led defending champ Chad
Wienen across the finish line in both
heats, and Thomas Brown ( 3-4) was
third overall ahead of Josh Creamer
( 6-3). At the next round at Ballance MX,
inconsistency ruled the day, and Hetrick
was sixth with a 4-5, while Wienen was
most consistent and fast, winning with
a 1-3 day. John Natalie went 5-1 for
second, and Thomas Brown was third
overall with a 2-7.

CAN-AM WINS IN TEXAS &
SOUTH
CAROLINA
Can-Am’s Cody and Hunter Miller
traded wins at the third round of the
Texas Quad Racing Association (TQRA)
series, held on the Johnsonville Farm
MX near Yanti, Texas. Cody topped
brother Hunter in the Open Experts,
while Hunter topped Cody in the Pro-Ams. At Big Buck GNCC’s morning
race, Bryan Buckhannon continued
his winning streak in Open 4x4,
while reigning 4x4 Lites champ Kevin
Trantham carded his third class win
of 2013. Defending champion Forrest
Wharton won the 4x4 Seniors class,
and Can-Am dominated all three class
podiums. Michael Swift won the U2
class and was third overall, making the
morning-race podium.
Bryan Buckhannon has won the Open 4x4 class
championship in 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2012, and
he’s on his way to a fifth title. Michael Swift was
2011 champion, and Richard Cecco won in 2007.
Chad Wienen only won one moto out of the first
six (at Ballance MX), but he leads Joel Hetrick,
who has won three motos, in points. Can-Am’s John
Natalie and Josh Creamer each have won one.
JOHN YOKLEY BAGS BIG
BUCK
First-round winner William Yokley was
leading the field at the Big Buck UTV
GNCC until he tangled with a lapper
and broke a steering component. He
would finish 13th and retain the points
lead, while Coastal Drilling teammate
Scott Kiger would finish third behind
Team March-Westin. William’s nephew,
John Yokley of the Big Country/Coastal
Racing team, was spun out in the first
turn of the XC1 Modified UTV race, so
he was last heading into the woods, but
he sliced through the XC1 Modified UTV
pack of 20 with his STI Roctane XD tires
to take the win, his first.
