With 500-class power on tap, the big-bore
LTR474 is like a four-stroke Suzuki Quadzilla
with all of today’s technology.
The 2006 Suzuki’s suspension had seen
a lot of hours of use without service. Race
Tech’s Sport series conversion made the
stock shocks perform like custom-tuned
aftermarket components for less than half
the price of new shocks.
MAKING THE MOTOR A MONSTER
Our friend’s 450 ran strong and was
not in need of an engine rebuild, but
the lure of even more dune-shredding
power made a big-bore kit a must.
Cylinder Works’ big-bore kit includes a
new cylinder, piston and gasket kit that
boosts the displacement to 474cc. The
kit keeps the stock compression ratio,
which means the quad can run reliably
and affordably on pump premium.
Cylinder Works also has stock and
high-compression standard-bore kits
for most popular quads. Hot Cams
Stage 1 cams pack even more punch
from the big-bore motor without the
extra expense of special valve springs.
Since the stock intake and exhaust
would strangle the built, deep-breathing
Suzuki, switching to a Uni Filter and
FMF exhaust ensured the big-bore
engine would have unrestricted flow. All
that extra air can’t make more power
without the proper fuel mixture, so
Dynojet’s PC3 was loaded with the EFI
map for the big-bore kit from Cylinder
