Suzuki’s LTR450R is one of the best high-performance sport quads ever offered. Its power and handling are incredible, and it was the first competition 450 to come stock with a motocross-width rear axle and A-arms, which make it great for many kinds of racing and a natural dune machine. Suzuki no longer sells the 450
because of the cost of making it comply with strict emissions standards, but it’s a great used quad choice. Clean,
well-cared-for LTR450s normally cost $3300 to $4800, so when a friend of the ATV UTV Action staff found a nice
2006 model for $2900, he couldn’t get the cash out fast enough.
Getting the Suzuki at such a great price left lots of room in our friend’s budget to build the 450 into a big-bore
super duner for far less than the price of a new stock 450. The best thing about this build is that the plan and
products that made it possible will work for Honda, Kawasaki and Yamaha sport quads too!
