to position the hanger before you
assemble it, because it’s not easy to

WHAT IT IS:
Slasher’s slip-on exhaust for the
Yamaha Raptor 700 is a lightweight,
muffler that mounts to the stock head
pipe. The muffler is re-packable, and
the silencer is assembled with screws
rather than rivets for easy service. The
slip-on for the Raptor costs $251 rather
than $300 to $400 as with other slip-ons. Quiet-core inserts ($15) and spark-arrestor inserts ($11) are available. We
got both for our Raptor exhaust.
Proper fuel-mixture control is
essential for getting full performance
from any mods that increase airflow, so
we used Slasher’s Mod Box fuel tuner.
It makes tuning the fuel injection for the
pipe simple because it doesn’t require
a computer for adjustment. It’s $270,
which is much more reasonable than
most tuners that range from $350 to
Slasher’s slip-on uses a precision
slip-fit union with the head pipe, so you
don’t have to reuse or buy a gasket.
The muffler is also supported by two
mounts, the same sturdy design as
the stock muffler. One of the mounts
is a band-type hanger you have to
strong and the pipe fits well, but the
mounting process is more work than
on pipes with both hanger brackets
welded to the silencer body.
The Mod Box installs easily with
plugs that match the stock wiring
harness. Modes and tuning adjustments
are set with the plus, minus and mode
The Raptor 700 isn’t short on power
with its stock exhaust, but the Slasher
slip-on muffler and Mod Box make it
run stronger and sound way better.
With the pipe and tuner, the 700 pulls
quicker and harder off the bottom, and
the power is stronger at high revs. The
extra performance shows how much
power the stock muffler hides and what
a beast the 700 really is. We also like
the fact that, with the quiet core, the
Slasher exhaust sounds good without
being painfully loud, and it’s nearly 2
pounds lighter than the stock muffler.
Slasher’s slip-on exhaust and Mod
Box EFI tuner are an easy, affordable
way to unleash the Raptor 700’s true
big-bore performance. Slasher also
