BARON RULES RIDGECREST
WORCS
Beau Baron fought back from a freak
DNF at the fourth WORCS round to top
both the SxS Pro UTVs and 450 Pro
ATVs, and his ATV win launched him
past Josh Row in season points. The
new Ridgecrest round was held at the
Desert Empire Fairgrounds and featured
a pavement Supermoto section, in
addition to MX and the EnduroCross
log and rock sections, and Saturday’s
racing was complicated by high winds
and dust. Beau started on the front row
and led 23 Pro UTVs into the first turn
ahead of Mitch Guthrie Junior. Baron
braved winds up to 70 mph and sailed
to the win by almost a minute. Winds
subsided Sunday, and Robbie Mitchell
and Garrin Fuller led Baron into the 450
Pro first turn. Baron worked into the
lead by the second lap, but had to keep
Mitchell and Davi Haagsma at bay until
the checkers. Mitchell briefly got past
Baron on lap 10 due to a lapper, but
Beau was not to be denied the win.

ARACE BEADLOCK WHEELS
We feature an “Affordable Beadlock
Wheels Buyer’s Guide” starting on
page 56, and European company
Goldspeed GPS hits America with
sport and ATV/UTV beadlock wheels.
Arace also makes beadlock wheels for
sport quads. The Advanced beadlock
rim comes in 8x8, 9x8, 10x5 and 12x7
sizes with composite construction, but
its only American distributor is Off-Road
Motorsports (401 Twin Willows Lane,
Valencia, PA 16059; [724] 272-2998).
The coolest part about carbon fiber composite and/
or aluminum beadlock wheels, like this Advanced
wheel from Arace, is that bent pieces can be
replaced for much less than buying a new one.
TECH TIP: STITCHING
RIPPED SIDEWALLS
One beauty of beadlock rims (see the “Affordable
Beadlock Wheel Buyer’s Guide” on page 56) is
that you can remove the beadlock ring to repair
a damaged sidewall on the trail. Winch or strap
the opposite side of your UTV or ATV to get the
flat tire in the air, and remove the outer ring.
Stitch the ripped sidewall with safety wire to
close the wound, then replace the beadlock ring
and plug the sidewall with your tire-repair kit. This
repair took five stitches and 28 plugs, but it held
air long enough to get back to civilization.
